Food Program

Our food program is centered around healthy habits, balanced nutrition, and consistency. We believe children learn best when they are properly nourished, and we encourage positive relationships with food from an early age.

Teachers model healthy eating habits by sharing mealtimes with the children and encouraging conversations about nutrition, healthy choices, and how food supports growing bodies and minds. We also participate in the American Kidney Foundation’s Reggie Rainbow Program, where children are introduced to a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables each week.

Children enrolled in our meal program receive healthy, child-friendly meals and snacks that meet USDA Child Care Guidelines.

Families who prefer to pack meals from home are welcome to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks. To ensure food safety, we ask families to include an ice pack in lunch boxes. Due to licensing regulations, meals cannot be microwaved, so warm foods should be packed in a thermos if desired.

As children grow, they are encouraged to participate in everyday self-help routines such as pouring water and milk independently. While spills happen, these moments are valuable learning opportunities that help children build confidence, responsibility, and independence in a safe and supportive environment.

Library Program

Our Library Program brings the joy of storytelling and imagination into the classroom. Twice each year, a local librarian visits our school to lead an engaging story experience centered around a special theme.

Children listen to stories, sing songs, and participate in interactive reading activities designed to encourage language development, creativity, and a love for books. While preschool-aged children participate most often, children of all ages are welcome to enjoy the experience together.

Reading Program

Our Reading Program creates meaningful connections between generations through shared stories and conversation. Preschool children visit a local senior community where they spend time reading with residents in a warm and welcoming environment.

Children choose their favorite books and enjoy one-on-one reading experiences while building relationships with the seniors. These visits encourage literacy, communication, empathy, and social confidence while creating joyful moments for everyone involved.

Field Trips

Field trips provide exciting opportunities for children to explore the world beyond the classroom while building confidence, curiosity, and independence. Children love riding the school bus to local destinations including parks, zoos, museums, farms, and nature centers.

These experiences help children connect classroom learning to real-life environments through hands-on exploration and discovery. Most field trips take place during the summer months, with seasonal trips offered throughout the school year.

Families are always informed in advance about upcoming trips and activities. In addition to off-site adventures, we also host engaging on-campus events such as visits from magicians, artists, firefighters, and petting zoos for children to enjoy.

Soccer Shots

At Play & Learn Children’s Place, we proudly partner with Soccer Shots to provide children ages 2–5 with a fun and engaging enrichment experience.

Through age-appropriate sessions led by trained instructors, children develop foundational soccer skills while building confidence, coordination, listening skills, and teamwork — all through active play and movement.
